Aromatherapy is the conventional use of essential oils for the treatment or prevention of disease. It is a harmonizing therapy which uses plant materials, aromatic plant oils for improving psychological as well as physical well-being. It does not claim to cure disease but definitely support traditional treatment of various conditions.

Although it has been practiced for thousands of years, Aromatherapy has only recently admired in our culture. One can achieve good effect from aromatherapy using pure, therapeutic-grade oils rather than those with synthetic ingredients or fragrances. The effectiveness of aromatherapy always depends on the quality of the oils used, and dosage.
There are many different ways to extract essential oils, Steam distillation is the most common way to extract essential oil from a plants. Essential oils are most commonly applied by massaging into the skin or inhalation of vapours in aromatherapy.

Many people confuse the terms "essential oil" and "fragrance oil". Aromatherapy essential oils are naturally occurring substances found in different parts of plants - the blossom, fruit, leaf, stem, bark, wood or resin.
Fragrance oils, aromatic oils or perfume oils as they are sometimes called are manufactured scents. They are artificially created fragrances and they contain artificial substances.
Although both types of oil can sometimes be used for the same purposes, they are chemically different.
Fragrance oils may contain a certain percentage of essential oils, but they are not completely natural, like essential oils.

Other evidence shows that Rose oil purifies the blood by helping in the removal and neutralization of toxins. It regulates hormone production and helps to balance them. In the near future people will get more concern about the composition of industrial beauty products and everyone will start making their own products at home just to be in control of every substance that touches their skin so essential oils will most likely win more ground in the world-wide market.
The growing field of Aromatherapy is great and wonderful for everyone. There are so many benefits from practicing Aromatherapy. With the growing popularity of Aromatherapy there is much concern for the quality and availability of essential oils. There should be awareness for pure essential oils and how they are obtained, as well as their sustainability status is needed.
Aromatherapy can be integrated into daily life in various ways:
- Diffusion: Using an electric diffuser to disperse essential oil particles into the air, creating an aromatic atmosphere in a room.
- Direct Inhalation: Inhaling essential oils directly from the bottle, a cotton ball, or through steam inhalation (adding drops to hot water).
- Topical Massage: Diluting oils with a carrier oil and massaging them into the skin for localized relief or full-body relaxation.
Aromatic Baths: Adding a few drops of diluted essential oil to bathwater for a relaxing and therapeutic soak.
